IEA: Global electricity demand is expected to grow by about 4% in 2024
According to an authoritative report recently released by the International Energy Agency, global electricity demand is expected to grow by about 4% in 2024, a significant increase from 2.5% in 2023. This growth rate is the highest since 2007. The report predicts that the strong growth in global electricity consumption will continue until 2025, and the growth rate will reach about 4% again.
In the field of renewable energy, power generation is expected to rise rapidly this year and next, and its share of global electricity supply will increase from 30% in 2023 to 35% in 2025. It is expected that by 2025, global renewable energy power generation will surpass coal power generation for the first time. Among them, solar photovoltaic power generation will meet about half of the growth in global electricity demand in 2024 and 2025, and solar and wind power together will meet three-quarters of the growth.
