German Minister of Economy: Germany's installed share of renewable energy will exceed 50% this year
As the country with the earliest photovoltaic applications, Germany is expected to achieve a 50% installed share of renewable energy by the end of this year.
At a meeting organized by the Heinrich Boell Foundation in Berlin on Monday, German Economy Minister Robert Habeck stated that the proportion of renewable energy in Germany is expected to reach over 50% this year.
Meanwhile, Habeck also mentioned the rapid growth of the German solar industry, which is expected to achieve 9GW of solar installed capacity this year.
In terms of electricity generation, Germany's renewable energy generation in the first half of the year has exceeded 50%. Especially in May 2023, due to good lighting conditions, solar power generation continued to increase rapidly, and 57% of Germany's electricity consumption for that month was provided by renewable energy.
Currently, solar power generation in Germany occupies an important position, and the German government's goal is to achieve an installed capacity of 215GW by 2030. Therefore, Germany's solar capacity needs to grow nearly threefold by 2030.
However, Habeck stated that with the growth of electricity demand, renewable energy must account for 80% of the electricity structure by 2030, but at the current rate, Germany cannot achieve this goal. Therefore, Germany needs to accelerate its transformation speed in the coming years.
