Brazil’s solar panel imports hit 17.5 GW in 2023
Brazil imported 17.5 GW of PV modules in 2023. Module imports accelerated in the second half of 2023, reaching 9.3 GW, after high inventories in the first half of the year, when imports were 8.2 GW. In the last three months of last year alone, 5 GW of imported modules entered Brazil - the largest single-quarter import volume ever. Importers previously cited continued declines in module prices throughout the year as a driver of imports.

China exported about 4 GW to Brazil in November and December, importers said. But some of that equipment has not yet arrived in the country and should be reflected in production in the first quarter of 2024.
