The installed capacity of new solar energy in Germany from January to July 2023 has exceeded that of 2022
According to German media reports, the use of solar energy for power generation is developing strongly in Germany. In the first seven months of 2023, Germany's new solar installed capacity has exceeded that of 2022. Among them, Bavaria has a leading installed capacity.

According to data released by the International Renewable Energy Economy Forum (IWR) on the 18th, in the first seven months of 2023, Germany had approximately 593000 new solar systems connected to the grid, with a total installed capacity of over 7900 megawatts. As a result, Germany's installed capacity in 2023 has exceeded the 7460 MW installed capacity for the entire year of 2022. In 2022, Germany installed a total of 390000 new solar systems.

The report shows that most of the installed capacity was installed in Bavaria between January and the end of July, with a capacity of approximately 1980 megawatts. Next are North Rhine Westphalia (1340 MW), Baden Wurttemberg (1050 MW), Lower Saxony (740 MW), and Brandenburg (610 MW).

According to the report, the German government hopes to reduce administrative barriers and simplify the registration process for private installations of solar systems. In addition, agricultural areas will be opened up in principle to promote solar energy systems. However, by 2030, photovoltaic power generation in agricultural areas should be limited to 80 gigawatts. In the future, there may also be more and more solar systems installed on sealed floors, such as parking lots.
