UK increases budget for sixth renewable energy auction
The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has increased the budget for the sixth round (AR6) of the UK renewable energy CfD allocation by more than 50% from the initial budget in March 2024 to £1.555 billion.

Earlier this year, the UK government announced a budget of £1.025 billion for this year's CfD AR6, most of which (£800 million) was for offshore wind power; solar photovoltaic projects received a share of £120 million.

According to the revised notice, the budget has now been updated to £1.555 billion, an increase of £530 million. Including: the total amount of Category 1 subsidies has reached £185 million, and solar photovoltaics will compete with onshore wind power and remote island wind power; the total amount of Category 2 subsidies is £270 million, which includes tidal streams, floating offshore wind power and geothermal; Category 3 subsidies are for offshore wind power, with a total allocation of £1.1 billion.
