According to the latest data from the American Solar Energy Industry Association (SEIA) in May, there are more than 2 million solar photovoltaic devices in the United States. It took less than three years to break through the 2 million barrier after the number of devices reached 1 million, which is the achievement of the industry in the past 40 years.
Solar energy can be used in a variety of ways, including solar panels and concentrating solar energy systems. Solar panels refers to the direct conversion of solar energy into electricity. According to SEIA, California accounts for 51% of the first 1 million and 43% of the second 1 million. The Association explained that the reduction was "largely" attributed to changes in the housing industry, which was growing and "rapidly diversified in the national market".
The SEIA added that other states, including Texas, Rhode Island, Florida, Utah and Maryland, also helped drive growth. According to projections, the number of solar photovoltaics in the United States will reach 3 million in 2021 and 4 million in 2023. "According to our latest forecast, by 2024, there will be a new solar installation per minute on average." Michelle Davis, senior solar analyst at Wood Mackenzie, said in a statement. More broadly, the U.S. Energy Intelligence Agency says renewable energy (excluding hydropower) is expected to generate 11% of electricity this year and 13% by 2020.Source: China Electric Power News Network
