Germany's installed capacity of photovoltaic equipment increased by 21% year-on-year in March
According to the data released by the Federal Statistical Office of Germany on the 20th, 2.6 million photovoltaic systems were installed on roofs and properties in March this year, with a total rated power of about 70600 MW. As a result, the number of solar systems increased by 16% compared to the same period last year, and the installed capacity increased by 21% compared to the same period last year.

Data shows that the proportion of photovoltaic power generation in total power generation is also increasing. In 2022, Germany transmitted 54.3 million megawatt hours of electricity to the grid through the operation of photovoltaic systems, an increase of 20% year-on-year. In 2022, 11% of Germany's grid connected electricity was generated by photovoltaic power generation, a record high. In 2021, photovoltaic power generation in Germany accounted for 9% of the total electricity generation. So far, the record breaking month for solar power generation in Germany was June 2022, when lunar photovoltaic power generated nearly 7.7 million megawatts, accounting for one-fifth of the electricity integrated into the grid at that time.

This statistics records all photovoltaic systems that supply electricity to the public grid and have meters to measure the amount of electricity supplied to the grid. Smaller equipment systems, such as balcony photovoltaic power generation equipment, are usually not included.

The current data confirms the rapid growth of the German solar market. Given the expansion goals of solar energy, we can even assume that this development will further accelerate in the future, "said Thomas Grigoleit, head of the Energy, Building, and Environmental Technology Department of the Federal Agency for Foreign Trade and Investment in Germany.

The German Federal Agency for Foreign Trade and Investment is the agency of the German Federal Government for foreign trade and inward investment. This institution provides consultation and support for foreign companies entering the German market, and assists companies established in Germany in entering foreign markets.
