How Solar Pumps Work
A solar pump is an innovative system that uses solar energy to power water pumps, providing a sustainable solution for irrigation, drinking water, and other water-related needs. The core component of a solar pump system is the photovoltaic (PV) panels, which convert sunlight into electricity. This electricity is then used to power the pump, enabling it to draw water from sources like wells, rivers, or reservoirs.

The operation of a solar pump begins when sunlight strikes the PV panels. These panels consist of semiconductor materials that generate direct current (DC) electricity when exposed to sunlight. The generated DC electricity is either used directly to power a DC pump or converted to alternating current (AC) if the pump operates on AC. The electricity powers the pump’s motor, causing it to rotate and drive the pump mechanism, which moves water from the source to the desired location.

Solar pumps are typically equipped with controllers that optimize the pump's performance by regulating the flow of electricity based on the intensity of sunlight. This ensures that the pump operates efficiently throughout the day, even as sunlight levels fluctuate.
