According to foreign media reports, the Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency (SIEA) recently launched a new phase of a subsidy program to incentivize developers to install solar water heaters, 10kW household solar systems, heat pumps, biomass power generation systems, and solar thermal collectors .
Under this scheme, project developers can pay 50% of the cost of purchasing and installing a photovoltaic system or heat pump in one lump sum. Subsidies of up to 3,400 euros ($3,465) per heat pump, up to 1,500 euros for photovoltaic systems and biomass power systems, and up to 1,750 euros for solar collectors.
The Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency (SIEA) claims that the programme provides a budget of 30 million euros this year. Launched in 2015, the agency has so far awarded up to 80 million euros in subsidies to more than 41,000 projects.
According to figures released by the International Renewable Energy Agency, Slovakia will install around 585MW of PV systems in 2021, the same as the installed capacity of PV systems installed in the previous year.
