1.9GW! Netherlands initiates bidding for photovoltaic projects
The Dutch Ministry of Economy recently stated that 1913MW of installed capacity has been allocated for large-scale photovoltaic and renewable energy projects in the 2022 SDE++project bidding round.

The Dutch Enterprise Management Office (RVO) stated that among the installed capacity of solar systems in the Dutch economy, the installed capacity of commercial and industrial photovoltaic systems is 1051MW, while the installed capacity of utility scale photovoltaic power stations installed on land or water is 862MW, and wind power projects are only 39MW. Overall, the Dutch Ministry of Economy has allocated 2813MW of installed capacity for different renewable energy power generation facilities, carbon dioxide capture facilities, and other heating technologies.

The Dutch government initially allocated 13 billion euros (14.6 billion US dollars) for the previous round of project bidding, but ultimately only allocated 11.9 billion euros. Carbon dioxide capture technology gained the largest share, reaching 6.7 billion euros, while photovoltaic systems only received 963 million euros, resulting in a significant reduction in funding and resources compared to the previous round of project bidding.

The Dutch Enterprise Management Office (RVO) stated that the low budget allocation for photovoltaic systems is mainly due to congestion issues affecting the operation of the Dutch power grid.

In these regions, subsidy applicants usually do not obtain grid connection approval from grid operators, which is a necessary condition for photovoltaic projects to receive subsidies. In addition, rooftop photovoltaic projects are required to specify the installation and construction unit for the first time

In the previous round of bidding, 3426 photovoltaic projects were awarded, with a total installed capacity of 3535MW.

According to a report recently released by the Dutch Association of National and Regional Electricity and Natural Gas Network Operators, the cumulative installed capacity of photovoltaic systems in the Netherlands will reach 100GW to 180GW by 2050.

According to recent statistics released by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) of the Netherlands, as of the end of June 2022, the cumulative installed capacity of photovoltaics in the Netherlands has reached 16.5GW. The institution stated that the Netherlands had already installed a 3803MW photovoltaic system in 2021 and a 3882MW photovoltaic system in 2022.
